Back to School Shopping Tips

I love getting new clothes, but I'm not a fan of going shopping.

I definitely prefer online. I can sit in my pajamas and sip diet coke while picking out a new dress. However, for back to school, I really needed to go to my nearest outlet mall to try things on and make sure they were perfect for my on-campus wardrobe.

Here are my tips on how to shop till you drop without actually...well...dropping!

Step 1: Wear comfortable clothes
I love the feel of athletic shorts and a tshirt, but when I go to the mall, I want to look a little more put together. Therefore, I find an outfit with the same amount of comfort.

For my shopping spree, I chose a JCrew cotton tee and a pair of chinos - comfy and cute. I kept my accessories simple so that when I tried on clothes, I wouldn't have to take off any chunky necklaces or loads of bangles. I wore shoes with a little detail to add a little umph to this look.

2. Pack your shopping necessities

I knew I got my Lilly Market bag for a reason! It held everything that I needed for my shopping adventure.

So here's what I packed:

2a. Undershirts: You never know when you'll need to put a cami under a top to get the full effect of    how a shirt is supposed to be worn.
An extra pair of shoes: Your feet may start to bug ya! (My Sperrys have special inserts in them for my foot arch...I'm special, but hey - now I can shop minus the drop.)

2b. The two things that start to bug me during a long shopping day is my hair getting in my face and my lips getting chapped. I brought along a headband and some medicated Baby Lips by Maybelline.

2c. I'm all about saving money, so I pack my own snacks. Also, having to stop to eat can waste precious time that you could be using to hit the sale rack. My favorite snack to bring along is Wheat Thins toasted chips - perfect for waiting in the checkout line or as your walking to find your favorite store.

2d. Yes, I bring my Kate Spade planner everywhere - but for shopping, it serves a special purpose. I stick coupons inside (make sure you print some out from Retail Me Not before you head to the mall) and I keep note of when stores are going to be having upcoming sales as I shop.

3. Take mirror pics!

I took a mirror pic for every article I bought! Not just so I could show my sisters when I got home, but also so I could keep track of what I was buying. Now, just by looking at my phone I can see my back to school wardrobe while also keeping in mind what may still be on my "to-get" list.

I am so excited to show you guys my new fashion finds! I will be doing a fall-haul next week! Have fun shopping and don't forget -- if you post a mirror pic of your new back-to-school get-up, be sure to use the hashtag "#oncampusinspired" to be featured on the blog. I wanna see all the cute stuff you got!

X,
Cristina
